The album is a collection of cover songs and original material, all of which were written and recorded by the duo in their hometown of Bridport, England. The production is sparse and atmospheric, with Harvey’s ethereal vocals floating over Parish’s dark guitarwork. The result is a haunting and beautiful track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. You may recognize the song from the television series Peaky Blinders.

PJ Harvey and John Parish have created something special with Dance Hall at Louse Point. It’s an album that is sure to please fans of both artists. Commercially it was not a success to put it kindly. It is pretty obvious way looking back at the album.

1) “John Parish & Polly Jean Harvey,” it says, crediting Parish with a confusing second billing that differs from his stage name.

2) Harvey spent spent so much energy during the To Bring You My Love that she didn’t bother promoting this one, leaving Parish to handle all press.

3) It is missing a catchy single. It felt flat in the single department following up the “Down By The Water” popular single from her previous album.
